The 5-day road trip includes a drive to the southern part of Kenya’s top wildlife destinations – Amboseli and Tsavo West National Parks. The tour begins in Nairobi and could end by either returning to Nairobi or a drop off in Mombasa.
Begin the trip by driving to Amboseli National Park – most famous for its views of elephants. Located 160 miles from Nairobi, Amboseli National Park offers a stunning view of both Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
As well as its famously photogenic elephants, Amboseli is also home to heavy-weight predators like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah, as well as their prey such as buffalo, giraffe, impala, zebra, cheetah, giraffes, antelopes among other herbivores
Amboseli national park boosts rich bird life, with over 400 bird species recorded, including the globally threatened Madagascar Pond-Heron, Lesser Flamingo, Lesser Kestrel, and Possibly Africa’s most sought-after bird, the Shoebill which has a one-time record in the area and more than 40 birds of prey.
After 2 nights in Amboseli, we drive to one of Africa’s biggest conservation area, Tsavo national park, home to red elephants, as well as to members of the rest of the “Big 5” wild game (buffalo, African lions, leopards, and rhinos).
Combined with Tsavo West, you will be able to see some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions including elephants, rhinos, Hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.
Visit attractions such as Mzima Springs to watch the hippos bathing underwater, visit the Lava flows and caves for geological interest, exploring the caves, or hike along with the lava flow among other attractions.
