It bores a natural serenity due to its distance from industry and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years. This safari will traverse north through the high shoulder of Mountain Kenya to the Game Reserve of Samburu. See the Ewaso Nyiro River which supports a wide variety of game such as elephant, reticulated giraffe, buffalo, grevy’s zebra, oryx and the long necked gerenuk.

Itinerary

This morning, you will be picked up at 07:00 am from Nairobi and drive south along the Central Kenya Highlands and arrive in Sarova Shaba Lodge in time for lunch. You can spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing before we set off for an evening game drive, your first taste of wildlife encounter. It's interesting to know that the Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George Adamson and Joy Adamson raised Elsa, the Lioness made famous in the best selling book and later on made into this movie which gathered various awards. The Samburu National Reserve is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves.

After breakfast, we will depart for another morning game drive and return to the lodge for lunch followed by swimming, games, and relaxation. Late afternoon, we will set off this time, for an evening game drive until sunset to witness the serenity of this reserve. Samburu National Reserve exudes a peaceful aura that attracts animals and greatly because of the Ewaso Ng'iro river (meaning brown water) that runs through it and surrounded by acacia, riverine forest, thorn trees and grassland vegetation. The Ewaso Ng'iro flows from the Kenyan highlands and empties into the famous Lorian Swamp. The natural serenity that is evident here is due to its distance from industry and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years.

We will cap off the day with an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast. You can spend a few hours swimming or relaxing before we check out before noon and make our way back to Nairobi. There will a stop-over for lunch along the way.
