Welcome to our general FAQs page. The idea behind this page is to provide you with answers to most of the questions we receive from customers regarding our services and the booking process.
If, however, your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us directly for any further information. Also, please remember that each package Category listed on our website has its own standards of services but you definitely get what you want at the end of your respective  tour choice.


What types of food do you serve during the trips in Tanzania and Kenya ?
We provide 3 meals per day during the safari. The meals start and finish with lunches on the 1st and last day of the tour. Incase one needs a special diet, e.g vegetarian meals, we request to be informed in advance.
Below is a guideline menu of the meals served during the trip:

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Tea or coffee, sandwiches,

fruit juice, sausage, toasted bread with margarine or jam

,omelet or scrambled chicken eggs, fries/chips.

Tea or coffee, fresh fruits,

soup, cooked chicken/beef

with rice, mashed potatoes, sliced fresh carrots & green beans, spaghetti, cabbage. 

Coffee or tea, pancakes with

honey or jam, fresh fruit, soup, cooked chicken/beef with rice,

mashed potatoes, sliced fresh carrots & green beans, fruit juice.


What documents do I need to travel to Tanzania and Kenya?
You must have a passport that is valid for at least six months after your date of entry in Tanzania or Kenya. Although most nationalities can obtain their visa at the entry points of Kenya and Tanzania, it is important to inquire in advance and purchase it if your case is different. We advise you to visit the Kenya or Tanzania embassy in your country for the current updated information.

 

What shots or Immunizations do I need to enter  Kenya or Tanzania ?
We recommend you to consult your personal or family physician or a travel health clinic to give you up-dated information concerning the required shots for a particular country.
You can as well contact the Kenya or Tanzanian embassy for more current information. As a general rule, there is no immunization/shots needed for one to get into the country however if you are coming from a yellow fever endemic area you may be required to show a proof of immunization.

 

How safe are the meals and water during Kenya and Tanzania safaris?
It is advisable to buy bottled water available in the stores in varying. Most food in safari lodges, campsites and tourist hotels in large cities are safe because they are prepared by professional cooks. To be on the safe side, fruits and vegetables should be washed and peeled and also try to avoid salads. Water on Kilimanjaro or Mount Kenya is generally safe but its safer to add purification tablets.

 

What currency and Amount of cash do I need to carry while in Kenya and Tanzania?
You might have a few added expenses ( like visa fees, tips to guides, alcohol, phone calls, souvenirs, personal items ) on your safari so we suggest  you bring US dollar cash including the $50.00 that you need to pay for your visa. If arriving or departing via Nairobi, you may have additional visa, departure tax and transfer.  Most people have their departure tax included in their ticket.
Bring some small bills too for the tips to the guides and the cooks. You can use the credit card in some tourist hotels. Traveler’s checks are much less versatile than cash and an average of $150.00 per week should be adequate.

 

What is the Best time to visit Kenya and Tanzania?
Kenya and Tanzania Safaris are great at any time of the year however April-May is the wettest time of the year and the great herds of wildebeest and zebra are concentrated and highly visible on the Serengeti.
November-December is the best time to see animals and migrant birds. July–October have great weather and many animals have traveled to Kenya parks, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara  thus excellent for wildlife safaris. The temperature varies alittle throughout the year.


How safe is a Traveler  in Kenya and Tanzania?
We advise our clients accordingly and send them to very safe and attractive destinations that we propose. Our guides will be there to guide you in the mountain climbing, during the safaris and in the cities for any excursions requested for.
We communicate constantly with our driver-guides while you are in the bush just to ensure all is well.  Also more current travel statements are offered by the Department of State announcements and Consular information.

 

How big is the group per vehicle during safari?
Our long chase land-cruisers in Tanzania carry 7 to 8 people, while the jeeps carry 5 people. The customized tour vans used in Kenya carry a maximum of 8 people.
 All vehicles are fitted with high-frequency radio for communication within the whole of  East Africa and have sliding windows and “pop-up” roofs for easier photography.

 

Do you offer private or tailored safaris in Kenya and Tanzania?
Yes, We give you the opportunity to choose any type of safari on any day, our staff will always be quick to respond to you once you send us an inquiry. This will be done according to the nature of your inquiry.
Contact us for details and program suggestions or email us with the details of your budget, type of accommodations,  number of nights you want to spend at each locations, dates of travel, number of travelers in your group, any special interests and any other relevant info that you want us to consider on preparing your itinerary.

 

Is it allowed to  hike or walk while in the park  in Kenya or Tanzania?
The countries rules restrict getting out of your safari vehicle while in the park, except in designated points like picnic sites. However we can offer you some other options including a botanical/nature  walk around Lake Manyara with a Maasai guide or on the out-skirts of the protected areas. Will I get a chance to interact with local tribes or see Masai people?
You are definitely welcome to experience the culture of the Masai people and other local tribes. You can always organize with your driver/guides to take you to the Masai villages with a small fee, around usd 10 , negotiable paid directly to Maasai chiefs.  We can incorporate other cultures in your itinerary to include other tribes as well.

 

Are we allowed to take tribal pictures during the cultural safari?
Before you take any picture shots, please ask your guide to ask the tribal group first for their permission. Some communities offer special access for organized visits of tourists and they charge a small fee payable directly to their elders. Enjoy the time to talk with village officials and crafts men, learn their local culture, traditions, arts and music.

 

Is it possible to upgrade our accommodation on your suggested itinerary?
Definitely Yes! Let us know in advance if you would like to upgrade your accommodation standards either throughout your trip or for a special day or two, we will do our best to include that in final program.
We offer customized luxury packages upon request so if you are planning on luxury accommodation, you may want us to adopt the customized itinerary to allow a more leisurely pace, which would allow you to enjoy the amenities for more comfort.

 

When is the ideal time to make my reservation for Tanzania or Kenya Safaris?
Once you have already confirmed the date of traveling in your mind, we encourage you to book with us right away. This can as well give you an opportunity of enjoying special season rates depending on your time of booking, however it works much better if you can book with us at least 4 months prior to your departure date.

 

Why is  Serengeti and Masai Mara the biggest safari destination?
At the heart of  Serengeti and Masai Mara eco-systems, lie an ancient phenomenon that is the largest movement of wildlife on earth. On this greatest animal show on earth, you will see the wild animals on the move towards greener areas between the Tanzania Serengeti and Kenya Masai Mara.
Animals migrate because of the nature of rain and how it affects the pattern of vegetation growth. When a seasonal drought dries up grass and water supplies in one area, the grazing animals move on to the next area along the Serengeti and Masai Mara migration routes where seasonal rains fall.
This spectacular movement goes on and on until they return the animals cover the whole of Serengeti and Masai Mara, and its been termed a wonder of the world.

 

I have dietary restrictions, would you still accommodate me while on safari?

Yes, We welcome people with dietary restrictions and will take good care of you when you are there. Kindly refer to the second paragraph above.
