Experience The Annual Wildebeest Migration in Masai Mara

The best time to take our 4 days Masai Mara wildebeest migration safari is from July to October of every year. Our safari starts with a briefing by your professional safari guide, thereafter you journey through the Great Rift Valley.  Masai Mara is renowned for its large population of big cats and the wildebeest herds alongside other thriving wildlife in the ecosystem.

Brief safari Itinerary day by day:

  • 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara game reserve
  • 2-3: Masai Mara Game reserve for 2 Nights
  • 4: Masai Mara – Nairobi- Departure

The following three days will be full of adventure and fun filled activities. Your guide will take you to either Mara River, Sand River or Talek River to witness the river crossings.

Our 4 day Masai Mara safari is child friendly, hence you can opt to bring your kids along for the safari. We also have a similar 4 days Masai Mara air safari package  .Taking children along on a safari enables them to learn more about wildlife.  They also get to have a broader understanding of the rich African culture. This can help grow your child’s intelligence and memory.

What animals will you see in Masai Mara?

During your 4 days in Masai Mara safari you will easily see the big 5 i.e.  Lions, buffalo, leopards, and the elephant. You will also see other wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras,  warthogs, hyenas, jackals, many species of antelopes.

During your safari holiday in this amazing destination from the period of July to September, the sensational event of the natural wild takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti National Park in search of water and pasture.

Your game drives in Masai Mara will include a visit to Mara River. This is where the annual wildebeest crossing takes place from July through to October. Your safari guide could also drive you to Talek River or Sand River where the wildebeest crossing also takes place. We highly recommend hot balloon safari and the Masai cultural tour when you visit Masai Mara.

One can take this tour at any time of the year since you are assured of seeing the big 5.

Itinerary

At the start of our 4 days Masai Mara Wildebeest migration safari your tour guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel at 0700 hrs – A safari briefing session with our Tour Officer then drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to the vast Masai Mara game reserve to arrive our camp in good time for lunch. Afternoon game drives followed by dinner and overnight stay at a Tented Camp

On day 2 of our Masai Mara Migration safari you will have early breakfast then head out with a picnic lunch to the Mara River, hoping to see a dramatic river crossing or two. It is quite some sight to see the massed herds take a leap of faith into the Mara or Talek rivers with the Nile crocodiles lying in wait for them. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay

Main Destination:

Masai Mara Migration (Kenya)

We will spend the day exploring the Masai Mara, with its abundance of large mammals and diverse bird life. We have the option to either have full and complete days out in the field when both breakfast and lunch can be served out on the savannah or we can return to camp for lunch.

Big cats are a very prominent feature of the Masai Mara and also include Cheetahs and Leopards, both of which are fairly straightforward to find here. We are definitely at ‘Predator Central’ here and there can be few.

if any wildlife spectacles anywhere in the world that can rival the tension, drama and emotion of a Mara crossing. As many as a million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra attempt this epic journey each year. Watching as thousands of wildebeest and zebra gather at a crossing point you can almost feel the pressure build on the animals at the front as they consider the right time to attempt to cross the dangerous waters of the crocodile-infested Mara River. It is, however, a time of plenty for the gigantic Nile Crocodiles that live in the river and lie in wait as hundreds of thousands of animals head north from the Serengeti Plains to feed on the lush Mara grasslands. The foaming waters, noise, and drama of a Mara crossing has to be experienced to be believed and offers dramatic action photo opportunities. Dinner and overnight stay at a tented camp

Main Destination:

Mid-range lodge located inside or outside Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast we check out of the camp and head back to Nairobi to arrive by 1400 hrs where our 4 days Masai Mara migration safari ends.
